Call for Podcast: "Mr. Literal"

Here's an idea mp3 for a podcast:

A character, named "Mr. Literal," has a great deal of trouble seeing beyond the surface of things. Another character, "Mr. Critical," by guiding Mr. Literal through readings of literary works, tries mightily to deepen Mr Literal's understanding of both literature and life.

What do you think? Should I produce a series of "shows" after this concept? Comment on this post to register your vote.

That could be very, very funny! Start with "The Big Two-Hearted River" and have Mr. Critical talk about how the story is all about sex (even though it isn't...) I know a few prof's who would get a kick out of that.

I think it sounds great! If you really want to break Mr. Literal's brain, toss out The Waste Land. OOOO--"The Rime of the Ancient Mariner"...

Would Mr. Literal have a silly voice? I'd be more entertained if Mr. Literal had a silly voice.

Seriously, what outcome are you looking for, and who's your aurdience? And would said audience like silly voices?

I would listen for sure.

Not sure on the silly voices, tho.

Silly voices and silly songs, such as the traffic light song would be nice, wouldn't you agree Dr. B?

Seriously, I think that it would be a funny show and it could be incorporated into a number of classes to help illustrate why it is so important to look for the deeper meaning in a work of lit.

There is a radio skit called "Mr Obvious" and the "host" answers questions from one obilivious caller. Sometimes it is funny other times just stupid. Neither has a silly voice, but that may make yours stand out.
